Version 1.1 Update

Hullo. I've now updated Dear Devere from version 1.0 to version 1.1! You can download the latest version of Dear Devere on its Itchio page.

This version update tweaks a few issues with the text not matching the voice actors' lines, as well as some typos. I also removed a "pop" (meaning a microphone pop) that I heard in an audio asset, as well as editing a typo out of one of the envelope art assets (I was missing a crooked letter E in the address on one of the envelopes).

Now an interesting thing I've learnt from writing Dear Devere is that writing letters that feel like they could have been written in the 1930s (specifically, two main characters who use a formal writing style) will "look" different than it "sounds." Meaning, it will be written in a certain way, but will sound more natural if read aloud differently. An example of this is contractions (i.e. "I'm" is a contraction of "I am").  Using contractions when speaking can feel more natural. On top of that, written letters (usually) won't include "Um" or "Er" or any sounds that indicate hesitation. But speaking does. It's what makes us human.

Because of this, there were some discrepancies between the text and the voice acting lines that I purposefully left in. This includes stuttering, sounds of thinking or hesitating, and contractions (despite the written text not using contractions in that instance).

I hope you enjoy version 1.1 of Dear Devere.
